The pianist Aki Takahashi, highly praised in various countries in the world as the leading player of modern music pieces.
In recent years, she has also been critically acclaimed for her superb performances of Schubert piano sonatas, and received the 2007 Arts Encouragement Prize of the Minister of Education. This album, containing two sonatas by Schubert which he completed approximately two months before his death, is Takahashi's latest eagerly anticipated recording. Schubert played by Aki Takahashi avoids excessive empathy, and her straightforward performance expresses his sorrow and disquietude in the tones as it delves into the essence of the pieces: it is indeed an ideal performance of Schubert. The recording capturing Bösendorfer Imperial's deep and resonant sound also makes the album a must.
