Recording of 3 compositions of 'Sonatas for Strings' (total 6 compositions) by Rossini, who drew kudos as an opera composer. The Sonatas were his earliest creation. The scores were buried deep in the Library of Congress in Washington until recently, and one suggestion is that Rossini composed them at the tender age of 12. Authenticity of the story aside, the compositions vividly demonstrate young Rossini's outstanding talent.

The sonatas are played by the music Mecca Berlin's superb performers, crossing over various orchestras, and formed an excellent string orchestra, with Berlin Philharmonic members at the core. The LP was acclaimed by a great number of music fans when it was first launched for its high quality recording. Now with even higher quality of sound, the album awaits yet again judgment of its true value.
